Meeting singles on the boardwalk in Los Angeles

Finding quality singles in Los Angeles has become a little easier for those who enjoy spending time near the beach. As of May, the Santa Monica boardwalk is offering free concerts every thursday night starting at 7:00pm. Since the inception of the concerts, there has been an increased amount of attendees, most recently estimated at over five hundred people. The ambiance is very laid back and the music ranges from rythym and blues to classic rock. Most people attend with their friends and come with drinks and snacks in hand.

The great thing about this weekly event is that it's a very social event. People share their goods and network with the crowds around them. My friend Chris is single and lives in Santa Monica. He attended the first event and has been a regular since. A few weeks ago, he convinced me to take the 30 minute drive west to join him and a few friends for the Thursday night concert.

I arrived with chips and dip, a few beers and a beach chair. Chris and friends had set up in center view of the concert and at the heart of the crowd. Within the first thirty minutes of the event, we had two groups that consisted of approximately 7 guys and 12 gals. We were all talking about our day, exchanged stories about our favorite concert experiences and talked about the new cool things the westside had to offer. After the first hour, I found myself exchanging phone numbers with a person who I would generally consider out of my league. My friend Chris had similar results. I asked Chris, in between group conversations, if this was the best luck he's had. His reply was mischievous smile.

Today I am proud to report that I am getting ready to meet the person that I met at the boardwalk for dinner and drinks. I dont know what will come out of it, but I'm going in with low expectations. It's a very nice and intelligent person with a great personality. If it leads to a friendship, great! If it leads to something more, well, that would be great too. It may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you're looking to meet singles in Los Angeles, but let me tell you, if you're not doing much on a Thursday night, it's well worth the trip.

Fresh start with online dating:

Many take the safe route in a relationship by not fully committing to avoid being hurt. Many shy away from making new friends because they dont want to feel betrayed down the road. Many go through the experiences and learn from the hurt, while others keep their wall up. Online dating can help you break the cycle and get you back to the essence of making friends and establishing meaningful relationships.

Overcoming a bad break up:

It may seem unique in every case, but lets face it, relationships break up. The process can sometimes be so painful that it makes it almost as painful to enter into another relationship. The meaning of overcoming is being able to reminice on the events that lead to the break up without including the hard feelings. The first thing to consider is thinking long and hard about the possibility of you two ever getting back together. If you spend more than 3 minutes thinking about it and are not really sure, dont bother wasting your time. Find yourself an online dating site and create a great profile. Send a message to the person who left you with hurt and more importantly yourself, that you're ready to move on. It may not be easy, but you have to start somewhere. Be careful about trapping yourself into flings by letting people know what you're looking for and what it is that you have to offer. Someone that is genuinely interested in you will take the time to understand.

Starting from scratch:

How long has it been since the big break up? Since the break-up, have you found yourself doing more activities that are focused on you and not someone else? If the answer to this question is yes, give yourself a pat on the back. If you havent, then taking the time to make the first step in the recovery process is a must. You cannot let the emotional strain keep you down. It's a vicious cycle that can only be broken by you, but it requires effort. Joina free online dating site and try to keep an open mind. There are many types of quality singles to choose from. If you're interested in dating for professionals, theres an opportunity there. Making A Lasting First Impression On An Online Dating Site.

Since childhood, we have been told the importance of first impression. I still remember the time when my mom helped me pick up the dress for my first ever date. She told me how important first impression is and on the first date it's more than just words it's also the clothes. However in the world of online dating first impression is often the words we choose to compose your first message to the other single in the virtual world of Internet. First message is an acknowledgment of interest in the other user and a potential start of a very long dating process. This first message is probably the most important message you will ever send to this other user. Let's see what kind of vibes you want to send to the other user using your first message. You probably want to let him or her know that you find their profile interesting and you want to open a channel for communication. You might like to point out that that you two have similar interests and share a few hobbies or beliefs in common.

Do you know that an attractive girl on an online dating site receives at least five messages per day. It is important that your message stands out among the crowd. The most effective way to make your message stand out is to send a message which shows who you really are. Such a message has much more potential for creating a genuine interest rather than a copy paste message. Here are a few tips to send a good first message

1. Say more than a few words. If you're taking your time to send message to another user you probably have found something interesting in his or her profile. You should point that out in the message and let the other user know why you found the profile interesting.

2. Don't say a lot. You want to keep the first message short, simple and sweet. First message is just an indication of interest and you want to check whether the other user is interested in talking to you too. First message is not the message to pour your heart out and and say that you're in love with other user. You want to express your interest but at the same time you do not want to come across as desperate for attention.

3. Keep it witty. A recent survey suggests that the best way to break the ice on online dating is via humor. If you have an amazing sense of humor, this is the time to put it in action. See if can insert some humor into your first message without making it offensive.

4. Sell your self. If you're a single professional who has his or her act together you have a lot going for you. You don't want to come across as a salesman but at the same time you probably want to hint that you do have your act together. Your profile should also indicate the same qualities.

5. Don't sweat over it. There are plenty of fish in the sea. If you send a message to a user, don't hold your breath for a response. She might be busy with work and might take even a couple of days to respond to your message or she might realize that you two are not compatible with each other and might choose to ignore the message. Her decision on whether to reply to your message or not in no way impacts how good a person you are. Online dating provides you with an opportunity to meet hundreds and thousands of single professionals in your area. You found a profile really interesting and there are more people like her in your locality.

First message is like a pickup line. Having a witty first message does help you but it doesn't guarantee a long-term relationship. Dating whether it starts from a bar or an online dating site is a very lengthy process which requires attention, commitment and focus. The most important part to remember when using online dating sites is to have patience, remain motivated and make the best use of the opportunity available.
